There couldn’t be a more exciting and challenging time to be joining the RSPB, Europe’s largest membership conservation organisation. We’re proud of everything we’ve achieved in the past decade, but we know that the years between now and 2030 will be critical in addressing the nature and climate emergency. The RSPB has a vital role to play in this work, both through our conservation work in the UK and around the world, and through inspiring and enabling many more, and more diverse people, to act to protect and restore birds and nature.

The role of Director of Digital Data & Technology is key to turning our strategic intent into reality. Reporting directly to the Executive Director, Digital Technology & Communications, and leading a team of over 100 people, you will help shape the overall structure, systems and processes of this vital team and ensure that it is financially sustainable for the long term. You will take the lead on developing and implementing the technology roadmap, so that our website, CRM, conservation data platforms and internal business systems are set up to deliver for people and for nature.

We need an exceptional, inclusive leader for this role, with a strong track record of success in relatable areas, be that in civil society or the commercial world, alongside a strong desire to work somewhere determined to make the utmost difference to its cause. If you bring the skills we are looking for and want to make a lasting, positive impact on the natural world now and for future generations, then we would love to hear from you!

Saxton Bampfylde Ltd is acting as an employment agency advisor to the RSPB on this appointment. For further information about the role, including details about how to apply, please visit our candidate microsite. Alternatively, telephone +44 (0)20 7227 0880 (during office hours). Applications should be received by noon on 7th May 2024.

We are committed to developing an inclusive and diverse RSPB, in which everyone feels supported, valued and able to be their full selves. To achieve our vision of creating a world richer in nature, we need more people, and more diverse people, on nature’s side. We welcome applications from candidates from all backgrounds, but also recognise that people of colour and disabled people are currently underrepresented across the environment, climate, sustainability, and conservation sector.  If you identify as a person of colour and/or disabled, we are particularly interested in receiving your application.  Contact us to discuss any support or reasonable adjustments you may need to help you complete your application.

RSPB offers the opportunity to work flexibly. This role can be home-based or at one of our offices. Regular travel throughout the UK (including overnight stays) will be expected.
