Job Summary

We are seeking a Financial Accountant for our European Accounting and Shared Services Team, based on our site in Riccarton, Edinburgh.


This is a new role within the team and may suit a part qualified accountant with experience of working in complex, rapidly growing organisations and looking to complete their training. The successful applicant will work closely with their manager on the accounting, reporting and compliance requirements for allocated businesses. You will support the existing Finance Team in implementing good accounting practices to ensure the on time and accurate submission of results each month. 


Main responsibilities will include:


•    Assist and prepare accounting journals, data, reports for month end close for assigned entities ensuring accuracy and timely management of all tasks in accordance with accounting policies and local compliance (US GAAP, company policies and Country GAAP standards)
•    Balance Sheet management: Complete reconciliations ensuring quality and prompt communication
•    Income statement management: Prepare and assist the Accounting Manager with the review of the draft Income Statement to the Business Finance team in monthly meetings
•    Provide support for all internal and external audits requests: US GAAP external audit, local statutory external audits, tax authority external audits, CRL internal audits
•    Responsible for ensuring the timely preparation of VAT filings, tax returns and other compliance documents for your entities
•    Build and maintain excellent knowledge of SOX control environment and great relationships with key internal and external stakeholders and colleagues
 

 

Profile and Requirements

The following are minimum requirements related to the Financial Accountant position:


•    Bachelor’s degree (B.A./B.S.) or equivalent in Accounting (preferred) or related discipline
•    Awareness of large ERP systems
•    An understanding of internal control processes, previous exposure to SoX would be advantageous 
•    Demonstrates analytical skills and ability to distil and interpret data
•    Able to absorb and advocate guidelines and policies to key stakeholders
•    Demonstrates awareness of the challenges faced by the business in managing their accounts and engagements
•    Excellent communication and collaboration skills
•    Occasional travel to be expected


An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted as a satisfactory substitute for the specific education and experience listed above.

Salary for this position is competitive and dependent upon qualifications and/or relevant experience.
