The Vacancy

The role sits within the Third Party Administration (TPA) Systems team, and will focus on the modernisation and continuous improvement of data transformation and analysis within this business area. This is a multi-disciplinary team where you will be able to showcase your abilities in data engineering and business process reengineering.  You will play an influential role and contribute to the company’s wider data strategy.

  • You will take a pragmatic, well-structured approach to designing and developing data storage and reporting solutions adhering to the firm’s Information Security standards, policies, and procedures.
  • You will lead the implementation of the data strategy within the TPA systems team as we continue to evolve our data journey for all applications and propositions we support and develop
  • You will identify requirements and develop analytical reporting for key stakeholders
  • You will keep abreast of the latest developments in data tooling, promoting best practice and guidance to the wider business. We love learning at Hymans so you will have freedom and flexibility to look at new technology and bring your own stamp to what we are doing.

About You

You will be comfortable working as part of a team, as well as having the initiative to explore solutions on your own.  The position offers an excellent opportunity for a commercially experienced data engineer or developer to work with the latest tools whilst also contributing to architectural and technical design decisions. You will also enjoy collaborating with software developers, data engineers, core IT and the wider business to deliver high quality solutions.

To succeed in, and enjoy this role, you will either be working with Azure tools already or have an established background in Microsoft SQL database technologies and a passion to learn.

Desirable

  • A background in SQL database technologies utilising both on-premise and cloud infrastructure
    Experience of (or willing to learn) Azure Data technologies and services
  • Be familiar with data and deployment pipelines, CI/CD and ETL/ELT processes
  • Experience within an Infrastructure as Code environment
  • Comfortable dealing with large volumes of data, generally time series and numeric data
  • Experience within a highly transactional data environment and developing solutions to minimise data loss and maintain data integrity
  • Experience of user reporting including SSRS and/or BI visualisation tools such as Power BI or similar.
  • Modelling and data science practices to enhance data insights for the wider business unit
  • Confidence to engage constructively in a multi-disciplined team environment
