We currently have an exciting opportunity to join this department as a Senior Pension Plan Accountant, within our Client Finance team in our Birmingham, Edinburgh, Glasgow or London Office.

What will your role look like?
You will maintain an efficient and high quality pensions accounting service to allocated clients, whilst also aiding and developing less experienced members of the team and assisting your colleagues.

Though this is a varied role, your key tasks will include:

  • Oversee the preparation and review Pension Scheme Trustee Reports & Accounts in line with Statements of Recommended Practice (SORP).
  • Maintain ledgers and review quarterly financial statements.
  • Ensure investment portfolio accounting is delivered in line with SORP and Scheme accounting policies.
  • Implement changes in line with statutory legislation and Accounting Standards of Recommended Practice.
  • Review cash flow forecasting, management accountant and budgeting.
  • Complete Inland Revenue processes for Self-Assessment and VAT.
  • Liaise with auditors to resolve queries and to ensure completion of Report & Accounts
  • Represent the team in Trustee meetings, presenting reports and accounts.

To enjoy and succeed in this role, you will have:

  • Recent experience of preparing annual pension scheme reports and accounts in line with SORP.
  • Detailed and up to date knowledge of legislation relating to both DB and DC pension arrangements.
  • Experience of working in a team with a collaborative, consultative approach.
  • The ability to juggle multiple tasks and plan and organise your workload effectively.
  • Exceptional communication skills, demonstrated through your ability to be clear and concise in communications with clients, members and colleagues.
  • The ability to work well as part of a team and lead by example, including aiding in the coaching and development of junior colleagues across the firm.
  • Able to produce work with a high level of accuracy, with a strong attention to detail.

Ideally, we would be looking for candidates to hold a professional qualification such as ACCA, ACA or CIMA (or be working towards one of these). However, we would also be open to applications from candidates who could bring a knowledge of the UK pensions market from relevant industry experience.

A more detailed list of requirements for this position is available within the role profile – which is available on request.

In addition to a competitive salary and access to our profit share scheme, we offer:

  • A flexible selection of employee benefits, so you can choose a package that best matches your lifestyle and needs.
