We are looking for a Research Software Engineer with experience in managing the integration of research software in large projects. This is a fixed term (12 month) position to work within a project that promises to revolutionise the logistics of medical delivery networks through unmanned aerial systems. The aim of this position is to drive the development and integration of research software within the context of a collaborative project between the University and industrial partners.
Essential skills include a high level of programming proficiency. and experience working on large scale software development projects. A detailed knowledge of C++ and JULIA development/support is desirable, as is experience managing research teams and projects. In this role you will experience interacting with a variety of stakeholders and project partners, to lead the development and integration of software architectures. You must have excellent troubleshooting skills, including a methodical approach to solving complex problems. You must be able to work autonomously, prioritising your own workload and making decisions without supervision in order to meet work deadlines. You should be able to disseminate results e.g. produce and present conference papers and publish in peer reviewed publications, making a clear contribution to the Department’s research efforts. The position is fixed in one year with the potential to extend it further.
