Transaction Monitoring Optimisation Manager
Glasgow

As a Barclays Transaction Monitoring Optimisation Manager, you will help the Bank meet its regulatory obligation to effectively monitor customer transactions, identifying potentially suspicious activity. With the ever-increasing global risk posed by Financial Crime, you will focus predominantly on the development and optimisation of Transaction Monitoring solutions for in-scope Barclays UK (BUK) and Barclays International (BI) businesses. This is an exciting opportunity to help analyse data and improve the TM searches.

Barclays is one of the world's largest and most respected financial institutions, established in 1690, with a legacy of success, quality, and innovation. We offer careers that provide endless opportunity – helping millions of individuals and businesses thrive and creating financial and digital solutions that the world now takes for granted.

At Barclays, we offer a hybrid working experience that blends the positives of working alongside colleagues at our onsite locations, together with working from home. We have a structured approach where colleagues work at an onsite location on fixed, ‘anchor’, days of the week, for a minimum of two days a week or more, as set by the business area (or nearest equivalent if working part-time hours). Please discuss the working pattern requirements for the role you are applying for with the hiring manager. Please note that as we continue to embed our hybrid working environment, we remain in a test and learn phase, which means that working arrangements may be subject to change on reasonable notice to ensure we meet the needs of our business.

What will you be doing?

•    Developing and optimising detailed model analysis within the Transaction Monitoring (TM) area, conducting analysis of different TM systems currently deployed globally
•    Collaborating with various internal and external stakeholders, answering queries related to model risk, underlying customer/transaction data and various parts of the model lifecycle
•    Working with Global Surveillance colleagues to support the development, implementation and optimisation of automated TM automated solutions and capabilities
•    Supporting regular review & optimisation of TM solutions, maximising effectiveness and efficiency, and ensuring a risk-based approach is taken
•    Developing and operationalising bespoke monitoring and oversight solutions within our Financial Crime data sources, including rules, models, typologies, profiles and dashboards
•    Ensuring TM solutions are rigorously built and embedded into routine processes, enabling proactive identification of money laundering and financial crime risks
•    Supporting innovation within the field of TM, and data analytics, taking inspiration from leading peer institutions, or from different fields altogether, to enhance TM capabilities within Barclays
•    Providing guidance and support whilst acting as an interpreter between business and technical areas, explaining requirements and translating technical subject matter where appropriate

What we’re looking for:
•    Experience in data analysis and visualising through tools such as SQL, Python, Excel, and Tableau or similar
•    Capability to concisely communicate technical ideas and concepts to a range of audiences in a variety of circumstances
•    Ability to solve problems logically and/or creatively, demonstrating professional judgment, quality control and adherence to high standards
•    Experience of collaboration with key Business, Operational, Technology and Financial Crime stakeholders to identify key priorities and enhancement opportunities for the bank

Skills that will help you in the role:
•    In-depth understanding of Financial Institution data (e.g. Customer/Account, Transactional, Payment), systems and flows
•    Exposure to common Transaction Monitoring systems such as Actimize SAM, Oracle Mantas, Fortent etc
•    Familiarity of Big Data / Data Lake technologies such as Apache Hadoop Spark, Hive, Impala etc
•    Knowledge of the Global and UK Financial Crime regulatory framework
